Description

Für das Backup unseres Matrix-Servers brauchen wir eine entsprechende Destination, wo vom Netcup-Host her die Backups z.B. in Form eines Borg-Backup-Archivs abgelegt werden können. Wohin können wir dieses Backup machen? Gäbe es eine Möglichkeit, dies auf den Server wo die Hauptinfrastruktur läuft zu machen? Verbindung z.B. per NFS over Wireguard ?

Birg benötigt ein SSH Backend. Auf unserem Server verwenden wir Restic mit einem Object storage backend. Das könnte ich dir einrichten.

Also Borg kann mit einem lokal gemounteten Storage arbeiten, deshalb die Idee von einem NFS mount over Wireguard. Aber wenn wir Restic bereits im Einsatz haben und das damit auch besser geht, dann gerne. Ansonsten scheinen Restic und Borg ja ziemlich ähnlich zu sein (Deduplication, Compression, Encryption).

Wir haben nicht viel block storage und gar keinen NFS server. Darum wäre Restic definitiv die einfachere Variante.
